I always like a good reading recap at the end of the year (or in this case, the beginning of the new one). With so many books read in a year, sometimes I forget some of the books that I really enjoyed. It’s also interesting for me to see how my reading habits have changed.
5-Star Rated Books of 2018
I started rating more books with 5-stars on Goodreads. These are the books that I’ve read more than once and loved or will most likely read again in the near future.
Left to Right: Royally Endowed by Emma Chase, The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, Hurts to Love You by Alisha Rai, A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, and Save the Date by Morgan Matson.

Most Read Authors
I used to do a yearly list of my top read authors of all time. I love seeing how my top 10 changes. It’s been quite a while since I’ve taken a look at this list (click here to jump back in time to 2013). I’m not surprised that there are a ton of new names in the top 10. But what surprises me the most is that Meg Cabot is still my top-read author of all time.
1. Meg Cabot – 33 books
I don’t think I’ve actually read any books by Meg Cabot in 2018, but it goes to show how many of her books I’ve read when I was younger. I think it will still be a while until she’s no longer at the top of my list. Talk about a prolific author.
2. Julia Quinn – 22 books
This doesn’t come as a surprise to me because the Bridgerton series alone is 8 books long.
3. Eloisa James – 19 books
Pretty sure I still have a lot of backlist books to read through, but Eloisa James is one of my must-read authors.
Read in 2018 & Recommended: Too Wilde to Wed
4. Lisa Kleypas – 15 books
Read in 2018 & Recommended: Dreaming of You
5. Sarah MacLean, Penny Reid – 12 books
I’m still working my way through the Winston Brothers series and the Knitting in the City series so I expect Penny’s ranking to climb in the next year. Is it just me, or does anyone else like to take their time when a series is really good? I never want it to end…
Read in 2018 & Recommended: Beauty and the Mustache by Penny Reid
7. Charlaine Harris, Richelle Mead – 11 books
It’s funny to me how these authors are tied because I read their books during my vampire craze.
9. Maggie Stiefvater – 10 books
Maggie Stiefvater has a special place in my heart because I’m a very minor character in The Raven Boys. The series in general is also great on audio, and I’ve listened to it several times.
10. Diana Gabaldon, Jennifer Probst, Jenn Bennett, Tessa Dare, Philip Reeve – 9 books
What my Most Read Authors list shows is that once I find an author that I really like, I tend to read their entire backlist. This works really well for romance, but not so great with other genres. I’m still always on the look out for new authors to try, but the authors above are definitely my “comfort reads”.
Read in 2018 & Recommended: The Governess Game by Tessa Dare
